Training and Support

Everything you need. Long before you need it.

Our standardized training scales uniformly across classrooms. We develop woodworking skills via a 3-step process.

  1. Goal Setting: Based on your objectives, we create a pathway for scaffolding up skills from our library of student-tested projects.

  2. Online Training: Teachers access our online learning platform to watch videos on safety, room setup, logistics, and basic tool usage (1 hour)

  3. Live Training: We reinforce lessons learned online and complete a project together using the same tools, wood, and techniques used with the students (2-3 hours). Training can be either in person or live via Zoom

Training for all teachers

We’re here to answer all your questions. Contact our support team by telephone, email, or FaceTime Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM through 5:00 PM Eastern Time. You can also communicate with an online community of Maplwoodshop-experienced teachers via our learning management system.

Teachers never work alone when they work with Maplewoodshop.

Continual support

90% of teachers we train have no background in woodworking

Every teacher who leads a Maplewoodshop program is thoroughly prepared to implement their sessions without drama or duress. A woodworking background is NOT required. Ninety percent of teachers whom we instruct have no experience in woodworking. Comprehensive training, step-by-step instructions, curriculum maps, pacing guides, and prepackaged tools and consumables ensure that you safely execute and complete an inspiring program that reinforces what students learn in your class.

Maplewoodshop creates a new type of learner; it teaches students to slow down and think differently. They’re required to plan, and be very deliberate about everything, and [create] iterations of success.
