A Message from Mike
A new year, a new format. Thank you for your suggestions on how to make our little newsletter more helpful. As a result, we are adding two sections; “Did you Know” covering research that supports hands-on learning and woodworking and “Funding Sources” which will mention foundations that could help you realize your dreams.
Let us know what you think and what else would be helpful.
Wishing you a year of growth and purpose,
Mike

To start, this powerful report from Advance CTE which is the longest-standing national non-profit that represents State CTE Directors and state leaders of Career Technical Education.
Middle school Career Technical Education (CTE) has the power to expose students to college and career options and equip them with the transferable skills they need to plan for and succeed in high school and beyond. To help states unpack the potential approaches to expanding and ensuring high-quality middle school CTE options, this report from Advance CTE examines state approaches to middle school CTE in Nebraska, Ohio, Utah and North Carolina. The report concludes with major considerations for states when implementing or expanding middle school CTE.
This resource was developed through the New Skills for Youth initiative, a partnership of the Council of Chief State School Officers, Advance CTE and Education Strategy Group, generously funded by JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Funding Sources
First off, if you do not know about this, you should. It is a national grant for enrichment and several of our customers have used this as a funding source.
“This is the only federal funding source that supports nothing but afterschool programs. The 21CCLC program aims to support community learning centers that provide academic tutoring and homework help; community service; and music, arts, sports, and cultural activities. The Department of Education works with State Education Agencies (SEAs) to manage statewide competitions for funding.”
